Yahoo Finance is seeking an Information Designer / Data Visualization Specialist to transform complex financial data into clear, publishable graphics across web, mobile, and video platforms.

Reporting to the Creative Director, you will blend data journalism with visual design, shaping narratives and building a scalable library of templates. A hybrid work setup and AI-enabled workflows are featured in the role.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience specializing in information design, data visualization, or editorial graphics within a digital newsroom, publishing platform, asset management firm, or media entity.
• Verified portfolio demonstrating advanced execution across data visualization, informational graphics, explanatory layouts, and a firm command of typography, composition, color theory, and visual hierarchy.
• Expert operational proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, paired with strong working knowledge of Photoshop and Figma.
• Extensive experience manipulating and visualization-formatting enterprise datasets via digital visualization toolkits (e.g., Datawrapper, Flourish, RAWGraphs, or similar tools).
• Demonstrated experience incorporating AI-augmented design systems or intelligent data-parsing workflows into active professional production environments to accelerate prototyping or layout scaling.
• Proven capability to operate independently under tight daily deadlines, demonstrating execution discipline and clear judgment during rapidly changing market events or breaking news cycles.
• Strong communication and professional negotiation skills, with a proven track record of translating peer data queries into accurate, polished creative layouts.

Responsibilities

• Data Visualization & Editorial Architecture: Concept, design, and render high-fidelity charts, diagrams, map modules, and complex explanatory information graphics for daily news articles, marquee features, special editorial projects, and high-volume subscriber newsletters.
• Complex Narrative Translation: Parse sophisticated financial and macroeconomic concepts, translating them into clear, intuitive visual assets for a global general audience.
• Proactive Visual Journalism: Collaborate with reporters, data analysts, and editors early in the investigative cycle, identifying and pitching data visualization opportunities.
• Breaking News Production Automation: Deploy automated chart frameworks and generative data tools to rapidly build, refine, and ship accurate visuals at speed.
• Systemic Template Governance: Architect and maintain an enterprise library of visualization templates to ensure branding uniformity.
• AI-Augmented Information Processing: Use generative AI tools to digest and summarize raw data before visual mapping.
• Programmatic Design Scaling: Implement automated workflow scripting to translate charts across formats.
• Cross-Functional Advocacy: Present layout logic and best practices in standups across editorial, social, marketing, and product units.
