Position Title: Visual Arts Teacher

Grades: 9-12

Status: Full-time, 10-month position

School Year: 2025-2026

Position Description

Las Américas ASPIRA Academy seeks a qualified, enthusiastic individual to provide visual arts instruction aligned with Delaware Visual Arts Standards. The candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, and capable of working well with children and adults. Reporting to the Principal, the teacher will develop engaging lessons and foster a positive learning environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Teach Art to students in grades 9-12.
  • Teach skills in drawing, painting, lettering, and art history.
  • Design a curriculum meeting students' needs and aligning with Delaware standards.
  • Provide individual and small-group instruction to accommodate diverse abilities.
  • Create a conducive classroom environment.
  • Prepare lessons and demonstrate readiness upon request.
  • Encourage positive classroom behavior.
  • Assess student progress regularly and communicate with parents.
  • Ensure safety and proper maintenance of materials and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Organize art displays and exhibitions.
  • Participate in curriculum development and extracurricular activities like art clubs.
  • Collaborate with staff and parents.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by administration.
Qualifications
  • Certified as a Delaware Visual Arts Teacher.
  • Knowledge of Delaware Visual Arts Standards, assessment, and accountability.
  • Understanding of best practices in art education.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Criminal background check clearance.
  • Health verification including Tuberculin testing.
