Job summary
United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley is seeking a full-time AmeriCorps VISTA member for the Sixth Street Shelter project. The role supports education, health, and community initiatives across the Lehigh Valley, with a focus on capacity building and service integration.
The position runs 11/16/2026 to 11/15/2027, based at the Sixth Street Shelter in Allentown, PA. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and be prepared for a 1-year commitment with benefits such as education awards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience in community services or nonprofit settings preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and partners.
Responsibilities
- Support programming at Sixth Street Shelter and community outreach.
- Develop a sustainable calendar of events for residents (educational, wellness, social).
- Monitor and evaluate Family Resource Center programming.
- Develop and monitor after-school activities for shelter residents.
- Collaborate with staff to identify needs and provide resources.
