Sustaining Way's AmeriCorps VISTA project will build organizational and community capacity to strengthen sustainable anti-poverty programs serving Nicholtown, New Washington Heights, and other low-income communities in Greenville, South Carolina. Through improved program design, community engagement, volunteer development, resource development, education, and sustainable systems, the project will expand access to healthy food, safer and more energy-efficient housing, improved health and resilience, and greater opportunities for residents to participate in solutions that strengthen their communities.
Develop and implement consistent onboarding, peer communication, mentoring, and professional-development systems that strengthen VISTA Member readiness, collaboration, and retention. Develop and implement a standardized internal system for VAD progress, impact documentation, member feedback, and continuous improvement that provides members and sponsor leadership with timely, organized, and useful information. Strengthen VISTA recruitment, candidate engagement, onboarding readiness, and project continuity through consistent outreach, communication, transition, and knowledge-transfer systems.
