The College of Health Sciences – Department of Speech Language and Hearing Sciences at the University of Missouri (MU) – Columbia seeks applicants for a 12-month Visiting Assistant Professor position in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) beginning Fall of 2025 in the areas of Voice and Swallow Disorders.

Position Overview

This is a 12-month Visiting Assistant Professor position, beginning in Fall of 2025 in the areas of Voice and Swallow Disorders. There is a possibility of a renewal of the contract, based on performance, resulting in a two-year full-time position. We seek a dynamic and engaging individual committed to excellence in teaching and student mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Voice, Dysphagia, Medical Speech Language Pathology, and/or related course work.

Provide clinical education in our onsite Speech and Hearing Clinic.

Engage in service to the department, college, and/or profession.

Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.

Contribute to departmental initiatives and curriculum development.

Opportunities for research and/or research collaborations.

Qualifications

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

Earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a closely related field (ABD considered if degree awarded prior to Fall 2025).

Evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level.

Certification in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) or Audiology (CCC-A) and eligibility for state licensure.

Experience with clinical education and eligible to perform supervision per ASHA requirements.

A record of some research and/or scholarly activities.

Candidates will be evaluated on classroom and clinical teaching and service activities.

Anticipated Salary Range

Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the applicant. The anticipated salary range for this position is $65,000 – 80,000, dependent upon the rank of the position offered.
