Qualifications

• Master’s degree required; graduate study preferred.
• Valid administrator certification required.
• Experience in instructional leadership and teacher evaluation.
• Minimum four years supervisory experience in public schools; elementary preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor instructional and managerial processes to align activities with outcomes.
• Consult campus-level committees on planning, operation, supervision, evaluation.
• Provide instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff toward goals.
• Foster collegiality and teamwork; encourage staff involvement in decisions.
• Ensure two-way communication with superintendent, staff, students, parents, and community.
• Set expectations for high performance and recognize excellence.
• Identify research findings to promote improvement.
• Develop annual campus performance objectives using planning processes.
• Develop, maintain information systems and records for campus progress on performance objectives.
• Interview and orient new staff; approve personnel.
• Define expectations for staff performance regarding instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication with the public.
• Observe employee performance and conduct evaluation conferences.
• Assign and promote campus personnel.
• Make recommendations to the superintendent on termination or nonrenewal of staff.
• Work with planning committees to plan professional development.
• Confer with subordinates on professional growth and improvement goals.
• Comply with district policies and laws affecting schools.
• Develop campus budgets and maintain fiscal control.
• Compile and file reports and documents including attendance for textbook requisitions.
• Manage use of school facilities and supervise maintenance.
• Develop student discipline system and ensure school climate.
• Ensure rules are observed and discipline is equitable.
• Conduct conferences with parents, students, and teachers.
• Develop professional skills appropriate to job.
• Demonstrate professional and ethical behavior.
• Articulate the school's mission to the community.
• Demonstrate awareness of school and community needs.
• Encourage community involvement.
• Supervise and evaluate staff including roles such as principal, teachers, counselors, librarians, aides, and custodians.
