Job summary

Genentech is seeking an R&D Scientific Infrastructure Strategy Lead to bridge next-generation science with cutting-edge lab facility engineering, shaping the gRED Center to enable long-term lab-in-a-loop drug discovery ambitions.

You will drive AI-driven autonomous workflows, manage infrastructure matrices, and design bench-level utility layouts to support evolving lab setups and dedicated zones for future renovations without disrupting operations.

Qualifications

• PhD, MD, or equivalent is required; significant lab research experience.
• Proven laboratory planning and workflow design experience.
• Ability to design for AI-driven autonomous workflows in biotech environments.
• Strong understanding of lab utilities, environmental controls, and EHS.
• Excellent cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Translate AI-driven lab workflows into physical space requirements.
• Lead design reviews and resolve architectural/engineering redlines.
• Coordinate power, data, gases, waste, and environmental controls.
• Plan mockups and support instrument relocation and commissioning.
• Collaborate with GNE and external stakeholders to align with drug discovery goals.
