Job summary

Cherry Creek School District in Colorado is seeking a Vision Technician who works under teachers of students with visual impairments (TVI). Vision technicians help individuals or small groups of students access learning activities, implement plans developed by TVIs, and support the academic and behavioral needs of students.

Under supervision, you will assist with accommodations, maintain records, help with travel and classroom activities, and transcribe materials into Braille or large print

Qualifications

• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.
• High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma required.
• No professional work experience required.
• Associate degree preferred; experience with disabilities and Braille knowledge are noted as desirable.

Responsibilities

• With direction from certified staff, implement student accommodations, supports, modifications, and programs per the IEP.
• Maintain records of student progress and behavior with licensed staff and report observations to the IEP team.
• Support student travel within school buildings.
• Assist students and small groups with classroom activities, adapting curriculum as needed.
• Assist with materials prep, tests, attendance, paperwork; help with drills and events as required.
• Transcribe materials into Braille, large print, or tape within 6 months of hire.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
