Job summary

Littleville Elementary School in Huntington, MA is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support a vision-impaired student one-on-one, helping with navigation, routines, and accommodations.

You will work closely with the Teacher of the Visually Impaired and a multidisciplinary team to implement IEP goals, provide visual supports, and monitor progress while maintaining confidentiality; this is a full-time, on-site role with a pay range of $18.24–$29.18 per hour.

Qualifications

• Be patient, thoughtful, and caring and set limits appropriately.
• Experience with elementary children preferred.
• Experience with Braille and assistive technology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one support to a vision-impaired student in the school environment.
• Help student follow classroom routines and adapt materials as needed.
• Assist with sensory tools and breaks per IEP.
• Maintain calm, de-escalate challenging behaviors per protocols.
• Break down tasks and provide visual supports.
• Support participation in group, small group, and independent work.
• Encourage self-advocacy and requests for help or breaks.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and administrators on strategies.
• Collect data and monitor progress toward IEP goals.
• Maintain confidentiality about students and families.
