Job summary

NewView Oklahoma Center for Low Vision and Blindness in Oklahoma City seeks a Certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (CTVI) and Orientation & Mobility (COMS) Specialist. You will deliver individualized instruction, assess functional vision, and support independence in educational and community settings.

The role requires coordinating with teams, documenting progress, and staying current with adaptive technology and best practices. Travel across OKC sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation & Mobility, or Special Education (with emphasis in visual impairment).
• Current certification as COMS (ACVREP) and TVI (OK state licensure).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between service sites.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments to determine functional vision and mobility needs.
• Provide direct instruction in Orientation and Mobility, indoor/outdoor travel, and use of assistive technology.
• Design and implement individualized lesson plans with measurable goals.
• Collaborate with vision professionals, educators, and families; participate in IEPs and conferences.
• Maintain confidential records and document service hours and outcomes.
