Job summary

NewView Oklahoma Center for Low Vision and Blindness in Oklahoma City is seeking a Certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (CTVI) and Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) to empower youth and adults to gain independence, safety, and confidence in educational and community settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation & Mobility or Special Education (visual impairment).
• Current COMS and TVI certifications (ACVREP and OK State DOE licensure).
• Valid driver’s license and travel between service sites.
• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
• Knowledge of aids and appliances used in mobility; ETA’s.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments to determine functional vision and mobility needs.
• Provide direct instruction in Orientation and Mobility skills and compensatory techniques.
• Design and implement individualized lesson plans with measurable goals.
• Collaborate with vision professionals, educators, and families.
• Participate in team meetings and IEPs to ensure accessibility and inclusion.
