Job summary

Soliant Health in California is seeking a Teacher for the Visually Impaired to deliver specialized instruction and support for students with visual impairments, helping them thrive academically and develop essential life skills.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, work under IEPs, and contribute to accessible teaching environments. This contract position offers flexible scheduling and professional support.

Qualifications

• Valid teaching credential with specialization as Teacher for the Visually Impaired.
• Experience with children or young adults who are visually impaired is valued.
• Strong knowledge of Braille literacy, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and consultative instruction to students with visual impairments per IEPs.
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and staff to ensure accessible learning environments.
• Assess progress and adapt methods to improve academic and functional outcomes.
• Conduct vision assessments and modify curriculum and testing as needed.
• Support orientation/mobility, self-advocacy, and independent living skills.
• Engage families to involve them in the education process and advocate for students.
