Job summary

Candor Consulting & Diagnostics in Texas seeks a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to empower students and schools by fostering independence and academic success. You will develop IEPs/IFSPs and collaborate with ARD committees to tailor education plans.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field, TEA Visual Impairment certification, and knowledge of IDEA/ARD; ACVREP mobility certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Vision Rehabilitation, or related field is required.
• Master’s degree in Education of Students with Visual Impairments or related field is preferred.
• TEA Visual Impairment EC-12 certification required.
• ACVREP Orientation and Mobility Specialist preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Develop IEPs/IFSPs with ARD committees; tailor education plans for students with visual impairments.
• Provide specialized instruction including Braille literacy, assistive technology, daily living skills, and compensatory skills.
• Monitor student progress data and adjust instructional strategies to meet IEP goals.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related services, families; participate in ARD and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Promote accommodations, modifications, and assistive technologies for equitable access.
• Prepare students for post-secondary education, vocational settings, and independent living; teach self-advocacy and community navigation.
• Develop safety and independence plans, including orientation and mobility skills where applicable.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Vision Rehabilitation, or related field

Master’s degree in Education of Students with Visual Impairments or related field

Texas Educator Certification in Visual Impairment (EC-12)

ACVREP Orientation and Mobility Specialist (preferred)
