Job summary

Soliant Health is seeking a Teacher of the Visually Impaired for an itinerant, full-time contract near Elgin, IL. You will travel between campuses serving Pre-K through transition ages, delivering vision-related services and collaborating with families and staff.

You will mentor and train staff, advocate for resources, and support credentialing requirements, including fingerprinting. The role begins August 27, 2026 and runs through June 9, 2027, with potential part-time flexibility.

Qualifications

• Active Professional Educator’s License (PEL) with endorsement in teaching students with visual impairments.
• Master’s degree required.
• Minimum five years of experience in school-based settings.
• Strong leadership to support, train, and guide team members.
• Ability to work effectively across multiple sites and grade levels.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, resource-rich environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver vision-related educational services to assigned caseload, covering a variety of ages and needs.
• Support and mentor staff, providing best practice guidance and professional development.
• Collaborate with families, educators, and administrators to address student goals.
• Advocate for necessary resources and solutions for students, staff, and schools.
• Fulfill credentialing requirements, including completion of fingerprinting.
