Job summary

Young World Physical Education seeks a Teacher of the Visually Impaired for a travel-based role across multiple schools. The position supports students aged 3 to 21 with visual impairments, under a 180-day contract with supervisory oversight by the Building Principal.

Responsibilities include assessments, IEP participation, and recommending materials and training to meet educational needs. Eligibility requires an Illinois VI endorsement and CPI certification or willingness to train.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator’s License with Blind, Visually Impaired endorsement.
• CPI certification or willingness to complete training.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Provide educational services to students who are visually impaired ages 3 to 21.
• Complete functional vision assessments and written reports.
• Participate in IEP meetings and assist the team in determining education needs related to vision.
• Recommend specialized materials, equipment, and technology to meet the students’ educational needs.
• Provide training on materials, equipment, and technology to students and staff, as needed.
• Communicate and plan with ESY teachers about modification of instructions to meet students’ educational needs.
• Adapt materials for students who are visually impaired.
• Participate in ESY meetings with ESY teachers.
• Communicate with ESY Coordinators.
• Other duties as assigned.
