Job summary

Big City Optical is seeking an Optician to join our team in Chicago to assist patients with frame and lens selections and to align eyewear with prescriptions. The Optician will accurately fit, measure and adjust eyewear to ensure comfort and optimal vision for each patient.

The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and teamwork with the optometrist to deliver personalized eye care. Competitive hourly pay and benefits accompany this position.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering eyewear solutions aligned with prescriptions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with diverse clientele in a busy store environment.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to cover other locations within 10 miles.
• Familiarity with eye care products and basic billing processes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-examination assessments of patients.
• Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses that best suit prescription needs and lifestyle.
• Measure and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses for comfort and optimal vision.
• Educate patients on lens options and features to aid decision-making.
• Coordinate with the optometrist to meet specific patient vision requirements.
• Manage inventory and assist in ordering and organizing frames and supplies.
• Provide outstanding customer service and resolve issues professionally.
• Perform administrative tasks related to patient records and store operations.
• Follow up with patients and advise on eyecare appointment availability.
