Job summary

Target Optical in Lakewood, WA is seeking a full-time Optometric Technician to deliver exceptional patient service and support the Optometrist with pre-exam testing and patient care. You will greet guests and help them complete paperwork as needed.

The role requires at least one year of guest service, strong communication and math skills, and familiarity with cash registers and computers. You’ll assist with contact lens inventory, orders, and daily store operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one-year strong guest service skills (internal/external)
• High School Graduate /GED or equivalent experience
• Strong communicator and listener to guests and associates.
• Strong basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
• Strong interpersonal skills (friendly, caring, patient)
• Sales skills
• Knowledge of store merchandise
• Familiarity with cash register, computers and calculators

Responsibilities

• Greets guests without delay when they enter
• Determines the reason for the guest's visit and explains services and paperwork
• Reviews prescriptions and patient information; identifies special needs and consults with Opticians/Doctor
• Operates the POS and handles payments as required
• Maintains clean, organized displays and stores
• Performs pre-examination testing with accuracy and explains measurements
• Disinfects and manages contact lens inventory; assists Optometrist as needed
