AEG is seeking an Optical Consultant to support Optometrists, ensuring exceptional patient care and education. You will perform preliminary evaluations, prepare patients for exams, and help with testing and documentation.

Responsibilities include scheduling referrals, managing EHR records under HIPAA, and assisting with clerical tasks to maintain efficient daily operations. Strong communication and teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school or GED required.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in MS Office, Windows, and word processing.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for professional collaboration with coworkers and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations before the Optometrist's exam (dilation, topical meds, diagnostic imaging, etc.).
• Conduct verbal interviews with patients to identify medical issues and visit reasons.
• May schedule referrals and complete related paperwork.
• Maintain patient records in EHR and ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Respond to patient inquiries about medications and treatments.
• May perform diagnostic testing with specialty equipment (OCT, visual field, etc.).
• Assist with clerical duties and ensure efficient schedule utilization.
