Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology seeks a Virtualization Systems Administrator to own operation, sustainment, and security of enterprise virtual server environments across networks and enclaves. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field or 8+ years of related IT experience.
• DoD 8140 Information Assurance requirements (e.g., Security+ CE) must be met.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with a favorable polygraph is required.
• Hands-on experience administering enterprise virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Windows and Linux server administration in virtualized environments.
• Strong patch management, vulnerability remediation, and STIG compliance.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and optimize virtualized server environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Manage vCenter systems, certificates, passwords, and baseline updates.
• Build, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux VMs supporting mission apps.
• Monitor resource health, availability, utilization; identify bottlenecks and improvements.
• Maintain configuration baselines for hosts, hypervisors, VM templates, and images.
• Support documentation and updates to system security baselines for ATO compliance.
• Patch hypervisors, virtual appliances, guest OS, and associated tools timely.
• Create VM templates, config profiles, and provisioning workflows for consistency.
