Job summary

Vulcan Elements is seeking a Virtualization and Systems Administrator to own the virtual infrastructure and server environment that underpins IT and manufacturing systems, including MES servers. You will define how systems communicate across IT/OT, manage hypervisor platforms, and serve as the primary admin for day‑to‑day operations.

This role requires hands‑on virtualization expertise and a security posture aligned with CMMC and NIST 800‑171, with experience in defense/government‑regulated

Qualifications

• 3+ years of systems administration with virtualization focus.
• Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi, vCenter.
• Experience with MES, historian, or SCADA-adjacent server environments.
• Familiarity with OT/IT integration and uptime constraints.
• Knowledge of NIST 800-171 and CMMC practices.
• Windows Server and Linux administration skills.
• Experience with federal contractors/DoD programs handling CUI.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a manufacturing environment.
• U.S. Person for access to export-controlled information.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and manage virtualization platforms hosting IT and OT workloads.
• Own the design and administration of VM environments including resources and HA/DR.
• Define and maintain OT/IT integration points with secure access controls.
• Administer MES servers and supporting infrastructure, patching, backups, and health.
• Provide general IT infrastructure administration (Windows/Linux, AD, DNS/DHCP, file services).
• Maintain system documentation, baselines, and SOPs.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to support system needs.
