Job summary

Stride, Inc. is seeking a dedicated School Counselor for its K12 Private Academy, a virtual program serving students nationwide. The role emphasizes postsecondary planning, counseling support, and collaboration with teachers and families to foster student success.

The counselor will implement a data-driven counseling program, review transcripts, guide college readiness, and assist with AP placement and pathway planning. A flexible schedule and remote work setup are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree AND three years of experience in counseling/advisement.
• School Counselor License Preferred.
• Ability to clear required background check.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Web-based search engines, and database systems.
• Flexible schedule; Travel up to 20% as needed.
• Master’s degree in school counseling Preferred.
• Experience with distance learning.

Responsibilities

• Helps all students plan for postsecondary options.
• Focuses students and families on college and career readiness;
• Meets quarterly with all students on caseload to review graduation plan and post-secondary options.
• Delivers classroom instruction based on student success standards.
• Reviews transcripts and other academic documentation for new and returning students.
• Works with staff to develop a four-year graduation plan and audits schedules for graduation candidacy.
• Assist students in course placement including AP recommendations and pathways.
• Analyzes student data and develops data-driven intervention plans.
• Provides short-term counseling and referrals for long-term support.
• Supports testing, parent education and staff development.
• May advocate for students at IEP meetings and other meetings.
• Travel up to 20% for professional development and related activities.
