Job summary

Magellan Health in Alabama seeks a Personal Financial Counselor to deliver comprehensive financial counseling to service members and their families on military installations. The role includes budgeting guidance, education resources, and coordinating PFM classes in short-term surge and on-demand scenarios under DoD protocols.

The position requires 3+ years of experience, a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent in education/work), and U.S.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.
3+ years of financial counseling experience.
Must be a U.S. citizen and speak fluent English.
If required by the contract, bilingual in English and Spanish.
Be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
Must be able to pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
Must have AFC, CFP, or ChFC certification.

Responsibilities

Provide personal financial counseling and management services to service members and their families.
Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
Develop informational financial materials for service members and families.
Coordinate and provide Personal Financial Management classes/workshops.
Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
Utilize virtual counseling or electronic communication modes as appropriate.
