Job summary

Magellan Health, Inc. in Michigan seeks a Personal Financial Counselor to provide coverage in short-term, surge, and on-demand situations for military personnel and families at installations. You will deliver one-on-one counseling, briefings, referrals, and coordinate with installation POCs to ensure needs are met.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 3+ years of financial counseling, U.S. citizenship, fluent English, and AFC/CFP/ChFC certification.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• Bachelor's degree required; alternative combinations may be considered.
• U.S. citizen and fluent in English; bilingual in English/Spanish if required.
• Must be able to obtain a favorable Tier 2 investigation and pass OCI disclosures.
• Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal financial counseling and management services to service members and their families.
• Assists service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
• Develops and makes available informational financial materials to service members and families.
• Coordinates, publicizes and provides Personal Financial Management classes/workshops.
• Responds to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilizes virtual counseling and electronic communication methods as authorized.
• Manages duty to warn situations according to DoD protocol.
• Communicates with leadership and participates in supervision, sharing trends and issues.
• Participates in regular trainings and contract activities as assigned.
• All other duties as assigned.
