Job summary

Penn State Health's Virtual ICU is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Virtual Intensive Care Unit team. This PRN L1 position provides remote critical care to patients across multiple hospitals from our Virtual Care Center, using audio/video connections to collaborate with local teams.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of ICU experience, current RN license, ACLS/BLS, and may pursue CCRN; Cerner PowerChart experience preferred. Shift options include evenings/nights with differential pay.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years ICU nursing experience.
• Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
• ACLS and BLS prior to end of orientation period.

Responsibilities

• Provide virtual ICU nursing care to critically ill patients across multiple hospitals from a centralized Virtual Care Center.
• Assess patient data and collaborate with local care teams via audio/video connections.
• Perform video assessments and surveil biometric data using specialized software and digital health technologies.

Night Shift Differential: $2.50/hour
Hours:7:00a - 7:00p; weekend shift requirements - one position; 7:00p - 7:00a shift - one shift

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Virtual ICU (vICU) nurse provides virtual ICU nursing care to a diverse population of critically ill patients across multiple hospitals regionally from a centralized Virtual Care Center. The vICU nurse assesses their patients’ data and provides nursing care in collaboration with local care teams using audio/video connections during the patients ICU stay to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The vICU nurse performs video assessment of their patient, surveilles patients' biometric data, vital signs and other physiological data using specialized software and digital health technologies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

• Three (3) years ICU nursing experience
• Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
• AHA ACLS and BLS prior to end of orientation period

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

• CCRN
• Experience with Cerner Powerchart
