Responsibilities
Summary: Do you love helping Customers with General home maintenance and repairs but want to reduce the physical demands and windshield time of field work? Do you have great diagnostic and problem-solving skills and can help Customers understand their options? Are you excited to work from home, leveraging technology to interact with Customers to start their service process and triage potential options ranging from DIY to a traditional service visit?

Frontdoor is looking for a General Technician to perform remote diagnosis and triage. You will engage with Customers using proprietary Streem technology, providing a live audio and video feed to see the Customer’s home systems. Your role will help empower Customers to understand repairs they can safely do themselves, and viable, cost-saving options if they cannot.

  • This position entails providing assistance to customers with a variety of repair and installation services, including work on pools and spas, garage doors, drywall repair, sprinkler systems, decking, fence construction, interior and exterior painting, minor plumbing, minor electrical systems, and general carpentry skills.
  • Conduct remote diagnostic and triage appointments with general home maintenance and repair Customers using Streem technology.
  • Provide technical support using Streem and other multi-channel interactions in the diagnosis and repair of Customers' appliance service or maintenance needs.
  • Deliver a great Customer experience by walking them through simple, step-by-step instructions to better understand their service or maintenance need and potential options.
  • Document all Customer interactions, including systems, model, serial number, actions taken, and next steps.
  • Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current home system trade standards, codes, and procedures regarding safe and effective do-it-yourself instruction.
  • Contribute feedback and participate in initiatives related to process improvements, development or implementation of new systems or procedures, new business opportunities, and performance strategies.
  • Grow sales volume by acquiring new accounts, building member relationships, and making expert recommendations for upgraded products.
  • Develop business relationships and respond to sales inquiries and service needs.
  • Leverage and analyze data to understand the market, identify opportunities, and develop strategies to grow the business.
  • Support business growth and achieve sales objectives and key results (OKRs).
  • Serve as a trusted “Advisor” for best practices and cost efficiency for members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education, Licensure, and Professional Certification requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required, NASTeC certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of general home maintenance and repairs experience.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to analyze problems and use professional judgment to offer appropriate solutions according to company procedures and policies.
  • Strong communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to customers.
  • Ability to work independently following procedures and policies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products (Zoom, Teams, Outlook, Excel).
  • Intermediate to advanced technology skills for multi-channel interactions.
  • Attention to detail, multitasking, and handling competing priorities effectively.
  • Self-starter, personable, capable of developing sales relationships.
  • Ability to sell virtually or in person.
  • Openness to new ideas and continuous learning in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience selling products in a category creation environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to systematically diagnose home systems, including Smart Home systems.

Other/State Specific
