Job summary

Harris Company is seeking a Virtual Fabrication Modeler to produce detailed constructible BIM/VDC models and drawings from contract documents and design criteria. Responsibilities include drafting piping and ductwork, coordinating with other trades, and delivering final shop drawings with spool sheets per QA/QC.

The role requires 3+ years of CAD/BIM experience or equivalent; proficiency in Revit or AutoCAD is essential, with knowledge of building codes for plumbing systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of trade apprenticeship with CAD/BIM or equivalent BIM/CAD experience
• 2+ years drafting/design in piping, plumbing, and/or sheet metal
• Working knowledge of mechanical construction practices
• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Fabrication, or Navisworks
• Knowledge of plumbing and piping codes (if drawing piping or plumbing systems)

Responsibilities

• Set up and organize BIM shop drawings per company standards.
• Generate 3D models of piping, plumbing, and/or ductwork systems per codes and project guidance.
• Route piping, plumbing, and/or ductwork per company standards.
• Coordinate overlays with other trades and resolve issues with leadership.
• Prepare final detailing, sign-offs, and spool sheets per QA/QC requirements.

## Virtual Fabrication ModelerApplylocations: Upper Marlboro, MDtime type: Full timeposted on: Posted Yesterdayjob requisition id: R-216**Job Description:**Under direct supervision produce detailed constructible shop BIM/VDC models and drawings based on contract documents, design criteria and/or instructions. Shop drawings are to reflect the use of sensible and strategic practices to maximize productivity throughout all phases of the construction process. The process is typically executed in the following phases; Setup & Backgrounds, Initial Detailing, System Modeling, Coordination, and Final Detailing. Troubleshoot BIM Model queries.**Setup and Backgrounds:*** Organize and utilize AEC data for use with shop drawings per company standards.* Organize and build shop drawing files per scope.**Initial Detailing / System Modeling:*** Generate 3D models of piping, plumbing and/or ductwork systems in compliance with building codes, construction standards, contract documents, and instructions from project leadership.* Route piping, plumbing, and/or ductwork systems per company standards.* Show all components and systems per company standards.* Identify and communicate issues that need clarification to project leadership.**Coordination:*** Overlay piping, plumbing, and/or ductwork systems with other trades.* Re-route piping, plumbing, and/or ductwork as required.* Produce sign-off record drawings.**Final Detailing:*** Add remaining text, tags and dimensions to complete shop drawings & other supporting sketches and/or details per company standards.* Prepare final piping/plumbing spool sheets/BOM as required OR MAJ files.* Make any revisions required per QA/QC.* May prepare equipment take-offs and buy out item lists.**Misc.:*** Other duties and tasks as assigned.* Contributes to the desired safety and work culture of the organization.**What we're looking for in you:*** 3+ years years of trade apprenticeship with CAD/BIM training or AEC experience with BIM/CAD training.* 2+ years Drafting/Design in Piping, Plumbing, and/or Sheet Metal industry.* Working knowledge of construction practices with emphasis on mechanical systems preferred.* Proficient understanding of Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk, Fabrication, or Navisworks.* Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.* Knowledge of building codes for plumbing and piping industries (if drawing piping or plumbing systems) preferred.**Your life at Harris**As one of the country's leading mechanical contractors, Harris offers you the best of both worlds: the stability, resources and opportunities of a national company, and the team culture, creative spirit and customer loyalty of a local business.
