Job summary

Harris is seeking a BIM/VDC Intern for Summer 2027 to gain on-the-job experience in BIM/ VDC while working with technicians on setup, detailing, coordination and modeling tasks.

The role suits a current student pursuing BIM/VDC or Mechanical Engineering, with knowledge of the building industry and tools like Revit or AutoCAD. This internship offers cross-department exposure and potential career opportunities within the company.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing BIM/VDC or related construction degree.
• Basic knowledge of the building and construction industry.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and how they operate.
• Familiarity with design tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Fabrication or Navisworks preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist BIM/VDC team with setup, backgrounds and detailing.
• Coordinate initial and final detailing and system modeling.
• Support coordination across departments to understand how BIM/VDC impacts projects.

The purpose of your role as a BIM / VDC Intern Gain on the job experience and knowledge of the construction process Get a realistic job preview of the BIM/ VDC and explore other career opportunities within the Construction team Gain hands on experience and/or exposure in BIM/ VDC working alongside our Technicians, including: Setup and Backgrounds Initial Detailing/ System Modeling Coordination Final Detailing Get exposure to other departments and learn how your role impacts the business as a whole Translate concepts learned in the classroom to real world experiences

What we're looking for in you

Must be a current student working toward degree in BIM/ VDC, Mechanical Engineering, or construction related program Interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry Basic knowledge/experience of the building & construction industry Basic understanding of mechanical systems: what they do and how they operate Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles Basic understanding of Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Fabrication, or Navisworks preferred Strong problem solving and collaboration skills required

Pay Range: $17.48 - $26.22 The actual salary offer will vary by candidate based on a wide range of factors such as specific skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
