Job summary

Harris Company in Ogden, UT is seeking a BIM/VDC Intern for Summer 2027 to gain on-the-job experience in the construction process. You will work alongside Technicians to set up, detail, model, coordinate, and translate classroom concepts to real-world BIM/VDC applications.

The role offers exposure to multiple departments, collaboration with teams, and hands-on experience across projects from stadiums to hospitals.

Qualifications

• Must be a current student pursuing a BIM/VDC or related degree.
• Basic knowledge of building construction and mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with design tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and background modeling in BIM/VDC projects.
• Initial detailing and system modeling.
• Coordination and clash detection with project teams.
• Translate classroom concepts to real-world experiences.

The purpose of your role as a BIM / VDC Intern Gain on the job experience and knowledge of the construction process Get a realistic job preview of the BIM/ VDC and explore other career opportunities within the Construction team Gain hands on experience and/or exposure in BIM/ VDC working alongside our Technicians, including: Setup and Backgrounds Initial Detailing/ System Modeling Coordination Final Detailing Get exposure to other departments and learn how your role impacts the business as a whole Translate concepts learned in the classroom to real world experiences

What we're looking for in you

Must be a current student working toward degree in BIM/ VDC, Mechanical Engineering, or construction related program Interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry Basic knowledge/experience of the building & construction industry Basic understanding of mechanical systems: what they do and how they operate Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles Basic understanding of Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Fabrication, or Navisworks preferred Strong problem solving and collaboration skills required

Pay Range: $17.48 - $26.22 The actual salary offer will vary by candidate based on a wide range of factors such as specific skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
