Job summary

The Virtual Preparatory Academy of Florida, operated by ACCEL Schools LLC, seeks an Academic Mentor to provide high-dosage tutoring to elementary students in a virtual setting. You will support foundational literacy and math, using data-driven strategies and provided materials to reinforce classroom learning.

This online role requires strong communication and organization, with occasional travel for state testing and events.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education preferred.
• Teaching degree or certification is not required.
• Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred.
• Experience in tutoring, mentoring, childcare, education, or a similar setting preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, dependable, and committed to student success.
• Comfortable using technology and virtual learning platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent, high-dosage tutoring to elementary students in small groups.
• Deliver targeted literacy and mathematics support based on student needs and data.
• Use provided instructional materials and strategies to reinforce classroom learning.
• Build positive, supportive relationships that promote student engagement and confidence.
• Monitor and document student attendance, participation, and academic progress.
• Communicate student progress and concerns with teachers and school leadership.
• Participate in training and follow school procedures for student safety, confidentiality, and professionalism.
