Job summary

ACCEL Schools’ Virtual Preparatory Academy of Florida seeks an Academic Mentor to provide high-dosage tutoring to elementary students in a virtual setting, reinforcing literacy and math foundations with data-driven, targeted support. You will build supportive relationships, monitor progress, and communicate updates with teachers and leadership.

Although this is an online role, travel for state testing and student events will be required several times per year, and eligibility is limited to

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; teaching credentials not required.
• Experience with elementary-aged children preferred.
• Experience in tutoring, mentoring, childcare, education settings preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, dependable and committed to student success.
• Comfortable using technology and virtual learning platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent, high-dosage tutoring to elementary students in small groups.
• Deliver targeted support in foundational literacy and mathematics based on data.
• Use provided instructional materials and strategies to reinforce classroom learning.
• Build positive, supportive relationships that promote student engagement and confidence.
• Monitor and document student attendance, participation, and progress.
• Communicate student progress with teachers and school leadership.
• Participate in training and follow procedures for safety and professionalism.
