Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced VDI Administrator to manage and optimize large VDI environments across Windows servers. You will collaborate with engineers to deploy thin clients, ensure patching and security compliance, and work with the Service Desk to troubleshoot issues.

The role requires 10+ years in IT and 5+ years directly supporting VDI, with active Secret clearance and TS/SCI eligibility preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; alternative: HS diploma + 4 years or Associate’s + 2 years.
5+ years of direct VDI support experience.
10+ years in IT/system administration roles.
Active Secret clearance; TS/SCI eligibility preferred.
Preferred: Master/PhD in IT, Cybersecurity, CS or related field.
Preferred: VCP or CCA-V certifications.
DoD Combatant Command experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Manage functionality and efficiency of groups of computers across OSs.
Maintain and deploy VDI thin clients with engineer support.
Work with SCCM/MECM for patching and security compliance.
Collaborate with Service Desk to troubleshoot hardware/software issues.
Keep master images and pools updated and secured.
Implement patches and configuration changes with cybersecurity teams.
Interface with customers to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
Troubleshoot VDI user access, performance, connectivity, and compatibility.
Monitor system performance and identify bottlenecks; propose improvements.

Job description

Work side-by-side with the engineer to maintain and deploy VDI thin clients
Work with SCCM/MECM to ensure patching and security compliance
Collaborate with the Service Desk to troubleshoot hardware and software issues
Keep master images and pools updated and secured
Implement patches, updates, and configuration changes with cybersecurity and IT teams
Interface with the customer, gather requirements, and deliver solutions
Troubleshoot VDI issues involving user access, performance, connectivity, and software compatibility
Monitor system performance and usage to identify bottlenecks or failure points and recommend improvements

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent additional experience
High school diploma and 4 years of additional experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree
Associate’s degree and 2 years of additional experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree
5+ years of direct experience supporting VDI environments
10+ years of overall IT experience in system administration or related technical roles
Experience with VMware Horizon, Citrix, or other major VDI solutions
Strong understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and networking fundamentals
Must have an active Secret clearance
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field
Preferred: FSLogix and/or HorizonView Client experience
Preferred: VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Citrix Certified Associate (CCA-V), or related certification
Desired: Experience at a DoD Combatant Command or component
Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
Ability to occasionally move inside the office and communicate with co-workers, management, and customers via email, phone, or virtual communication
