Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior IT engineer to design, implement, and maintain Citrix XenDesktop and NetScaler environments across a large Enterprise. The role covers Azure Virtual Desktop, hybrid cloud, and on‑prem infrastructures, with a focus on security and performance.

You will interact with Government stakeholders, drive VDI readiness (ATO), manage Citrix and Azure components, and provide Tier 3 support, scripting, and thorough documentation to sustain mission-critical work.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to obtain a polygraph.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II-certified (Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security).
• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with Citrix XenApp, AppLayering and Enterprise Layer Manager (ELM).
• Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop and RDS on Windows Server 2019/2022.
• Scripting in PowerShell or Python.

• Engineer, implement, mitigate, monitor, and tune VDI to obtain ATO for new VDI solutions.
• Manage Citrix products (Virtual Apps, Virtual Desktops, ADC, Provisioning).
• Manage Azure products (Azure Virtual Desktops).
• Operate scripting skills in PowerShell or Python.
• Provide Tier 3+ support (troubleshooting, RCA).
• Prepare and maintain documentation for VDI solutions and processes.

Responsibilities

• Engineering, designing, testing, implementing, maintaining, securing, and managing the full life cycle of the complex Citrix XenDesktop and NetScaler solutions deployed in a large Enterprise environment.
• Designing and supporting Microsoft infrastructure solutions, including Azure Virtual Desktop, on‑prem, cloud and hybrid.
• Interacting with Government stakeholders regarding technical considerations for problems, issues, or conflicts.
• Engineering, implementing, mitigating, monitoring, and tuning VDI environment and management software to obtain Authorize to Operate (ATO) for new VDI solutions.
• Managing Citrix products (Virtual Apps, Virtual Desktops, ADC, Provisioning).
• Managing Azure products (Azure Virtual Desktops).
• Operating and executing scripting skills in PowerShell or Python.
• Providing Tier 3 and above support as needed (troubleshooting, problem resolution support, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)).
• Preparing and maintaining documentation for VDI solutions, processes, and procedures related to engineering projects.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a polygraph.
• Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certification or training, or work/military experience.
• Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience.
• Experience performing engineering work associated with the design, development, maintenance, and testing of infrastructure for desktop application packaging and deployment technologies.
• Knowledge of Citrix XenApp, AppLayering, and/or Enterprise Layer Manager (ELM).
• Hands‑on experience with SQL Clustering Failover.
• Knowledge of cloud, networking, and enterprise architectures.
• Expertise in the Windows 10/11 – Standard Operating Environment (SOE), imaging, evergreen, etc.
• Experience with Remote Desktop Service (RDS) on Windows Server 2019/2022.
• Ability to deploy Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) on Windows Server 2019/2022.
