Job summary

Language World is seeking an interpreter to bridge language barriers for clients in diverse medical contexts. You will interpret spoken content accurately in real time for on-site and remote sessions, maintaining patient privacy and HIPAA compliance.

A strong grasp of medical terminology and bilingual fluency in English and Spanish are essential. Flexibility to travel between multiple locations in designated regions and availability during standard business hours is required, along with valid CA

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and Spanish.
• Excellent listening and retention skills to convey messaging accurately.
• Experience using medical terminology.
• Ability to travel to multiple locations within designated regions.
• Possess a valid CA driver's license and current auto insurance.
• Available to work regular business hours (8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.).
• Must pass screening, background and drug tests, and work authorization verification.

Responsibilities

• Convey the speaker's thoughts and intent quickly and accurately into the target language.
• Provide on-site and remote interpreting (over-the-phone and video).
• Communicate professionally and conduct interpreting sessions.
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.

Job Responsibilities

An interpreter’s responsibility is to convey another individual’s thoughts and intentions quickly and accurately into a target language. The interpreter must be culturally competent and determine how messaging is intended to be received while retaining the conversation's integrity. Interpreters should also possess the following traits:

• Ability to quickly grasp spoken phrases and express the messaging concisely into the target language instantly while maintaining the intent of the original speaker.
• Provide language solutions through on-site and remote interpreting (over-the-phone and video).
• Professionally communicate and conduct the interpreting session
• Maintain confidentiality acquired during an interpreting encounter as required by HIPAA.

Requirements

• Fluency in English and Spanish
• Excellent listening, speaking, and retention skills to accurately convey messaging
• Experience using medical terminology
• Promptly submit timekeeping and administrative tasks
• Ability to travel to multiple locations throughout the designated regions
• Possess a valid CA driver's license and current auto insurance
• Available to work and have flexibility during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)
• Must successfully pass the screening assessment, applicable background, and drug screenings, in addition to verification of work authorization.
• Possess, or be willing to obtain medical clearances; TB, MMR, Varicella proof of immunity, and up to date on all vaccinations.
