Job summary

Augusta University is seeking a Video Journalist to create compelling visual stories for our educational environment. You will storyboard, shoot, light, and edit videos using industry standard software including Premiere, Final Cut Pro, and After Effects.

You will also review footage, perform post-production tasks, operate video equipment, and contribute to brand-aware content across our websites and social channels, collaborating with a creative team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in video production or related field with 2 years of videography/editing experience.
  • Experience with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, and After Effects.
  • Strong storytelling ability and understanding of interview lighting principles.

Responsibilities

  • Visual storytelling from concept to completion; researches ideas, develops visual themes, and produces video content.
  • Uses video to create learning, discovery, and student success videos of varying lengths.
  • Produces highly artistic video to elevate university websites, social media, and marketing materials.
  • Utilizes advanced technical and lighting skills to elevate videography during pre- and post-production.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for creating compelling visual stories. This position supports the growing demand for visual media in our educational environment and serves as videographer supporting creative content. Storyboards, plans, shoots, organizes and lights video shoots. Edits videos and performs all other post-production tasks, including reviewing footage, logging, rough cuts, audio adjustment, color correction, and final editing using Premiere, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, and/or other industry standard software. Troubleshoots and performs routine maintenance on video, audio and lighting equipment. Makes recommendations to department for software and equipment purchases.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Visual Storytelling Independently manages multiple visual storytelling assignments from concept to completion; researches visual content ideas, develops visual themes and stories, and produces video content for multimedia formats.

Video Uses Uses video to create exceptional visual stories for various platforms. Examples include learning, discovery, and student success videos of varying lengths.

Brand Awareness Produces highly artistic video that elevate the Augusta University websites, social media, and brand marketing materials to promote brand awareness and audience engagement.

Technical Skills Utilizes advanced technical and lighting skills to elevate videography during pre- and post-production.

Artistic Direction Engages video subjects using interpersonal skills, and provides artistic direction as needed on location.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in video production or related field, plus 2 years of experience in videography and editing role.

Experience in Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premier, Adobe After Effects and other post-production editing software.

Excellent understanding of storytelling development and key components.

Understanding of 3-point lighting for interviews.

Creative thinking, attention to detail and problem solving.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications Federal Aviation Administration Remote Pilot Certificate

Preferred Experience Experience in news media a plus

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Must possess working knowledge of the fundamentals of marketing practices. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office required. Knowledge of graphic design techniques and software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite) preferred.

Working knowledge of HIPPA and/or higher education policy preferred.

Must be a fast learner, a team player, self-motivated, and able to juggle multiple projects.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Band: B8

Salary Range: $45,400/annually - $48,880/annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.

Recruitment Period: 9/21/26 - Until Filled
