Job Summary

Qualifications
  • PhD in communication, journalism, mass communication, media studies, or a closely related field.

  • Evidence or promise of an emerging research agenda.
  • Consistent with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements for institutional accreditation.
  • Evidence of teaching ability, scholarly activity, and competence in other assigned duties.
  • Successful experience (waived for new entrants meeting all other requirements).
  • Desirable personal qualities assessed through interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
Compensation & Benefits

Academic year based, typically August through May. Full‑time commitment (1.0 FTE). Salary commensurate with education, experience, and achievements; subject to availability of funds. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, sick leave, retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness options, and more. Full‑time employees employed for more than 6 months may be considered for the Tuition Assistance Program. Salary determined at hire based on factors such as experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, internal equity, and market data.

Conditions of Employment

All selected candidates must successfully pass a background check prior to employment. Where applicable, a credit check may be required for Positions of Trust or departmental Purchase Card usage. Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that require driving an institutional vehicle. For faculty hires, proof of completed academic degree(s) and post‑secondary coursework transcripts is required. Foreign‑trained candidates must provide an educational/credential evaluation. All employees must comply with confidentiality, cybersecurity, and privacy policies.
