Job summary

Square Enix America seeks an Associate Counsel to support legal matters for publishing operations across the Americas. The role involves drafting and negotiating vendor agreements, NDAs, licenses, and content licenses while advising on IP, compliance, and data privacy issues.

You will collaborate with executives to implement best practices in the digital world, research evolving laws, and liaise with global Square Enix legal teams. Occasional travel is expected.

Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Active member in good standing of a US state bar
  • 1+ years of legal experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with big-picture view
  • Ability to distill complex ideas concisely
  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities

Responsibilities

  • Draft, negotiate, review and interpret a wide variety of contracts including vendor agreements, NDAs, EULAs, software licenses, content licenses
  • Partner with business executives to discuss and implement best practices in the digital world
  • Provide legal guidance to minimize risk while helping teams achieve goals
  • Research and analyze evolving laws affecting online business (data privacy, AI, children's safety, loot boxes)
  • Review game content and marketing for IP and compliance
  • Liaise with Square Enix legal teams worldwide
  • Occasional business travel
