Our client is seeking a Vice President of Technical Operations to scale the company’s technical execution model, improve delivery predictability, and strengthen reliability across engineering, infrastructure, and product operations. This role is ideal for a senior leader who can build scalable operating systems, drive cross-functional technical programs, and ensure teams ship critical initiatives with clarity, speed, and quality.
The VP of Technical Operations will own the technical operating cadence, delivery performance, and operational excellence across engineering and platform teams—partnering closely with Engineering, Product, Security, and Customer-facing leaders.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Operating System
- Establish and run the technical operating cadence (OKRs, QBRs, weekly execution reviews, planning cycles, release readiness).
- Drive alignment across Engineering, Product, Security, and Support on priorities, sequencing, resourcing, and dependencies.
- Lead cross-functional technical initiatives and remove execution bottlenecks across teams.
Delivery, Reliability & Performance Management
- Define and operationalize technical KPIs and dashboards (availability/SLOs, incident trends, release frequency, cycle time, defect rates, on-call health).
- Drive data-driven decision-making, accountability, and continuous improvement across delivery and operations.
- Build strong incident management and postmortem practices that improve system resilience and team learning.
Process, Systems & Scale
- Standardize and optimize core technical workflows (SDLC, change management, release management, environment management, incident response).
- Implement tooling and automation to improve speed, quality, and observability (CI/CD hygiene, monitoring, alerting, runbooks).
- Improve customer experience through better production stability, faster recovery, and consistent delivery handoffs.
Leadership & Stakeholder Partnership
- Partner with Engineering leadership on org design, capacity planning, and execution strategy.
- Align with Security/Compliance on operational readiness, controls, and audit-friendly practices as needed.
- Partner with Customer Success / Support Ops to strengthen escalation paths, SLAs, and incident communications.
Qualifications
- 12–18+ years in technical operations, engineering operations, SRE/infra leadership, technical program leadership, or related roles; 5+ years leading teams.
- Proven experience scaling delivery and operational systems in high-growth environments.
Technical Operations Skills
- Strong program leadership, operating cadences, KPI frameworks, and change management experience.
- Familiarity with modern engineering toolchains and operational ecosystems (incident tooling, monitoring/observability, CI/CD, ticketing, CRM/support platforms).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in SaaS operations, multi-team delivery leadership, global/remote execution, and/or operating in regulated environments.
- Background partnering deeply with Engineering/SRE/Platform leaders on reliability and delivery transformation.
Why This Role
You’ll build the technical systems that let the company scale—improving execution speed, delivery predictability, and platform reliability across the organization.
