Job summary

Security Benefit, a leader in the U.S. retirement market, seeks a Vice President of Tax to lead the enterprise tax function across the consolidated group, including life and nonlife subsidiaries. You will shape tax strategy, risk posture, and reporting, partnering with Finance, Actuary, Legal, and executive leadership.

The role reports to the CFO and can be based in Topeka or Overland Park, KS, Des Moines, IA, or remotely for the right candidate. Hybrid schedule offered with on-site flexibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with CPA preferred.
• 15+ years in progressive tax roles, life insurance experience a plus.
• Experience leading tax teams and managing multi-entity groups.
• Deep knowledge of ASC 740 and SSAP 101 requirements.
• Experience managing outsourced/co-sourced tax relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise tax function, owning strategy, risk, and compliance.
• Oversee tax compliance, provision, and reporting for consolidated group.
• Manage co-sourcing relationships and internal vs external capability mix.
• Partner with Finance, Actuary, Legal, and executive leadership on tax implications.
• Drive tax technology and internal controls for reporting.
