Job summary

Morgan Stanley Services Group Inc. seeks a Vice President, Software Engineer in New York, NY to design and develop large-scale, multi-tiered software applications for trading and post-trading workflows.

You will implement Order State Management components and lead scrum-based delivery while supporting distributed systems across asset classes. Requires 5+ years in relevant roles and deep experience with Java, UNIX, Spring, Hibernate, Kafka and distributed messaging.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Educational Technology, Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, or a related field.
• Requires five (5) years of experience in the position offered or related tech leadership roles.
• Requires five (5) years of experience with Java, Unix, MQ, Relational Databases, Unit testing, Shell Scripting, MS SQL Server, Spring Framework, Hibernate, XML, and Web Services (RESTful or SOAP).
• Requires four (4) years of experience with Kafka, SQL, JDBC, data structures, algorithms, OO design, performance testing, Git, Gradle, Redis, Distributed messaging, multi-threaded server-side development, and Apache Camel.

What You’ll Do In The Role

Morgan Stanley Services Group Inc. is seeking a Vice President, Software Engineer in New York, New York to design and develop large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services. Develop software services to onboard trading and post-trading workflows for various asset classes including Equity and Options on distributed system architecture. Design and Implement Order State Management related components for Trading platforms. Conduct scrums and handle deliverables. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.

What You’ll Bring To The Role

• Requires a Bachelor’s in Educational Technology, Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, or a related field of study.
• Requires five (5) years of experience in the position offered or five (5) years as an Assistant Manager, Technology, Technology Lead, Systems Project Manager, Technology Specialist, or related occupation in the technology field.
• Requires five (5) years of experience with the following skills: Java; Unix; MQ; Relational Databases; Unit testing; Shell Scripting; MS SQL Server; Spring Framework; Hibernate; XML; and Web Services (RESTful or SOAP).
• Requires four (4) years of experience with the Kafka; SQL; JDBC, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design concepts; performance testing; Git; Gradle; Radis; Distributed messaging; Multi-threaded server-side development; and Apache Camel.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $175,000 and $210,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
