Job summary

Morgan Stanley Services Group, Inc. seeks a Vice President, Lead Software Engineer in New York, NY to design, code, test, debug, document, and support software applications in accordance with established specifications and business requirements. Develop business solutions by creating new software applications and modifying existing ones.

Telecommuting permitted up to two (2) days per week. What you’ll bring includes a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least five years of experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in software engineering or related leadership roles.
  • Five years of experience with SDLC in Agile/DevOps environments.
  • Five years of experience with Java, J2EE, and Spring technologies.
  • Experience developing REST/SOAP web services.
  • Experience with relational databases including Sybase.
  • Experience with test automation and writing unit/integration tests.
  • Experience using JIRA and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience Git, Bitbucket, and SVN workflows and branching models.
  • Experience with browser debugging tools for cross-browser testing (Chrome/Edge).
  • Experience in Unix/Linux environments, including shell scripting.
  • Developing batch jobs.
  • Understanding of application and system architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Design, code, test, debug, document, and support software applications in accordance with specifications and business requirements.
  • Develop business solutions by creating new software applications and modifying existing ones.
  • Apply OOAD principles throughout the development process.
  • Integrate solutions with dependent modules, document solutions, write code, perform unit and integration testing, and troubleshoot production issues.
  • Manage multiple concurrent software development projects.
  • Apply load testing and deployment procedures as needed.

What you’ll do in the role:

Morgan Stanley Services Group, Inc. is seeking a Vice President, Lead Software Engineer in New York, New York to design, code, test, debug, document, and support software applications in accordance with established specifications and business requirements. Develop business solutions by creating new software applications and modifying existing ones. Utilize innovative approaches to address complex technical challenges, applying advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts to product development. Manage multiple concurrent software development projects. Apply Object-Oriented Analysis and Object-Oriented Design (OOAD) principles throughout the development process. Integrate solutions with dependent modules, document solutions, write code, perform unit and integration testing, participate in load testing and deployment, and troubleshoot production issues. Telecommuting permitted up to two (2) days per week.

What you’ll bring to the role:
  • Requires a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Requires five (5) years of experience in the position offered or five (5) years as a Technology Portfolio Manager, Senior Manager, Senior Consultant or a related role.
  • Requires five (5) years of experience with the following skills:
    • Applying end-to-end software development life cycle (SDLC) within Agile/DevOps environments;
    • Utilizing core Java, J2EE, and Spring technologies;
    • Developing REST/SOAP web services;
    • Working with relational databases including Sybase;
    • Conducting test automation, writing unit and integration tests;
    • Implementing JIRA and CI/CD pipelines;
    • Applying Git, Bitbucket, and SVN, and utilizing an understanding of branching models, workflows, merge and conflict resolution;
    • Performing client-side debugging tools to troubleshoot issues across multiple browsers including Chrome and Edge;
    • Working in Unix/Linux environments, including shell scripting;
    • Developing batch jobs;
    • Utilizing understanding of application and system architecture.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $200,000 and $210,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
