Job description

OneSearch Group has partnered with a leading global Investment Bank that is seeking an experienced Senior Credit Officer to join its Project Finance Credit Risk team based in New York City. This role will focus on the evaluation, approval, and management of credit facilities supporting infrastructure, energy, natural resources, and other project finance transactions. This is a second line of defense Director level position.

Key Functions:

  • Conduct and facilitate credit exposure approval and associated decision-making processes, in line with relevant credit policies and procedures, and within the stated risk appetite statements.
  • Advise and support the credit decision process for individual credit transactions and relevant credit portfolios, within the boundaries of established risk appetite statements, and in line with applicable credit risk policies.
  • Conduct in-depth financial modeling, cash flow analysis, and scenario stress testing.
  • Evaluate structural risks, collateral, sponsor strength, industry trends, and regulatory considerations.
  • Monitor and manage an active portfolio of project finance loans, identifying early warning signs and recommending risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory guidelines, and capital adequacy requirements.
  • Maintain regular dialogue with front-office teams, clients, and external stakeholders to assess creditworthiness and evolving risk factors.

Transaction Structuring & Documentation:

  • Provide credit structuring guidance to origination teams, ensuring transactions are appropriately risk-adjusted.
  • Review and negotiate term sheets, loan agreements, covenants, and security packages.
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, and syndication teams to ensure smooth execution of deals.

Stakeholder Engagement & Decision-Making:

  • Present credit recommendations to senior risk committees and investment committees.
  • Partner with relationship managers, investment bankers, and syndication teams to support strategic lending initiatives.
  • Stay informed on market developments, geopolitical risks, and sector-specific credit trends.

Required Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in credit risk management, structured finance, or project finance lending at a major bank, institutional lender, or rating agency.
  • Strong understanding of project finance structures, including non-recourse lending, debt sizing, cash flow waterfalls, and security packages.
  • Expertise in financial modeling, credit risk assessment, and industry due diligence.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging senior executives, clients, and regulators.
