Qualifications

  • 5+ years of executive or 10+ years of management-level experience in managed care.
  • Physician license in Indiana or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Experience in management, financial, and medical expense management.
  • Vendor management experience preferred.

Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody these values to join our leadership team in the role of Vice President, Population Health.

The Vice President, Population Health provides strategic and operational leadership for IU Health’s value-based and performance-driven care initiatives. This executive leader is responsible for advancing population health strategies that improve clinical outcomes, enhance the patient experience, reduce avoidable utilization, and optimize the total cost of care for patients across the continuum.

You will partner closely with executive leadership, IU Health Medical Group, academic and community-based physicians, and operational teams, the Vice President drives the development and execution of innovative population health programs, care management strategies, and quality initiatives. The role focuses on strengthening coordinated, evidence-based care while advancing ambulatory quality performance and achieving measurable results in value-based care arrangements.

This leader identifies and implements opportunities to improve care delivery through data-driven decision making, technology-enabled solutions, disease management programs, and emerging care models. They translate enterprise priorities into clear goals, actionable plans, and sustainable outcomes that deliver value for patients, providers, and the organization.

The successful candidate brings exceptional strategic, clinical, operational, and financial leadership experience, with a demonstrated ability to leverage analytics, market intelligence, and industry best practices to guide decision making and maximize organizational performance. Reports to: Senior Vice President, Chief Clinical Officer

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates for the position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.

  • Master's Degree is required. Degree in Business, Public Health, or Healthcare Administration is preferred.
  • MD or DO with Board Certification is required. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution, with a minimum of 5 years experience in practice.
  • Requires 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Requires 5 or more years of executive experience, or 10 or more years of successful management-level experience in managed care.
  • Must be licensed as a physician in the state of Indiana or ability to obtain a license.
  • Management and financial and medical expense management experience is required.
  • Prior vendor management experience is preferred.
  • Experience building external relationships with physicians developing clinical programs around disease management or population health management is preferred.
