About the Opportunity:
StartupHakk has been engaged by one of our premier enterprise clients (a private equity-backed digital advertising powerhouse with over a decade of proven market leadership) to recruit a Vice President of Technology.
Our client operates at the forefront of the ad-tech ecosystem, processing high-volume digital campaigns across major global ad exchanges, supply-side platforms (SSPs), and demand-side platforms (DSPs). The company's core platform is already live and established in-market. They are now accelerating their roadmap to build a proprietary Meta DSP (Demand-Side Platform) module that will integrate into this existing platform. As VP of Technology, you will lead the team building this new Meta DSP module from scratch, working in close coordination with the existing engineering organization, and will bring industry knowledge and connections to help the team move faster to market.
Speed to market is the top priority for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end build of a new Meta DSP module, integrating into the client's existing platform and infrastructure.
- Guide technology decisions for the Meta DSP module — leveraging existing platform technology where it fits, or introducing new technology where it better serves the module's needs.
- Oversee integrations across major programmatic networks and API frameworks (including Meta, The Trade Desk, Amazon Ads, Google DV360, Beeswax, StackAdapt, Basis, Yahoo, and more).
- Ensure the module delivers low-latency execution, enterprise-grade throughput, and reliable reporting for agency and enterprise media buyers.
- Bring industry knowledge and relationships to help the team accelerate delivery and avoid common build pitfalls.
- Lead a dedicated team of 5: 1 Project Manager and 4 Developers, focused specifically on the Meta DSP module.
- Work adjacent to and in coordination with the existing development team maintaining the core platform.
- Establish development processes, code quality standards, and delivery practices suited to a fast, focused build.
- Report directly to the CTO.
- Serve as a technical liaison to major ad-tech platforms, API providers, SSPs, and data partners relevant to the Meta DSP build.
- Work closely with the CTO and executive leadership to align the Meta DSP roadmap with speed-to-market and business goals.
Qualifications & Background:
- 8 to 10+ years of progressive technology leadership in ad-tech, programmatic advertising, media execution software, or digital media platforms.
- Direct hands-on or leadership experience working on or integrating with leading programmatic platforms or DSP infrastructure (e.g., Beeswax, The Trade Desk, Amazon Ads, Google DV360/GAM, StackAdapt, Basis, Viant, Xandr, MediaMath, Simpli.fi, Frequence, etc.).
- Proven track record of taking software/SaaS products from zero to production and successfully bringing them to market quickly.
- Experience leading small, focused engineering teams (PM + developers) on a defined build.
- Existing network and working relationships with major programmatic tech partners, ad exchanges, and data vendors — this is a key differentiator for this role.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growth-oriented, private equity-backed environment where speed-to-market is critical.
- Deep, hands-on understanding of REST API design and integration — this role requires connecting into numerous third-party ad exchanges and platforms, so fluency in API architecture, authentication patterns, rate limiting, and data contracts is essential.
- Strong grounding in big data / data analytics and large-scale database design — comfortable evaluating and designing for high-volume data structures (bid streams, campaign reporting, real-time analytics) regardless of specific vendor or stack.
- Sound engineering judgment and modern software engineering principles (scalability, maintainability, testing, CI/CD) that translate across technology choices — we are intentionally technology-agnostic on this role and are looking for someone who can make the right build decisions based on the problem, not a specific tech preference.
Target Candidate Backgrounds & Technical Footprints:
- Ideal candidates likely hold current or former senior engineering/technology roles at major ad-tech vendors, DSPs, agency operating systems, or custom media platforms, such as:
- Teams building on custom DSP frameworks or platform APIs (The Trade Desk, StackAdapt, Basis, Amazon Ads, Google DV360, Beeswax, Viant, Yahoo, Xandr, MediaMath).
- Developers and leaders behind enterprise media enablement systems (Mediaocean, Innovid, Compulse, MadHive, AdCe)
- Engineering leaders experienced in high-volume, real-time bid processing and multi-channel API orchestration (Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Retail Media networks like Wayfair/Walmart).
