Senior technology leadership role in a growing, operationally complex organization
The Opportunity
A growing organization is seeking a hands-on Vice President of Information Technology to lead technology strategy and day-to-day execution across a distributed business. This executive will serve as the senior technology leader and will be responsible for creating reliable, secure, scalable technology services while improving how the business uses systems, data, vendors, and digital tools.
This is not a role for a leader who operates only at the strategic level. The successful candidate will be comfortable setting direction, developing the team, partnering with executives, and personally engaging in priorities, escalations, vendor decisions, implementations, and operational problem-solving when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise technology strategy and execution across IT operations, infrastructure, enterprise applications, cybersecurity, cloud platforms, end-user services, data, and business continuity.
- Own technology service delivery and improve responsiveness, reliability, support quality, and end-user experience.
- Develop and execute a practical technology roadmap aligned with growth, operational efficiency, risk management, and business priorities.
- Partner with executive and functional leaders to identify practical solutions that improve productivity, workflow, reporting, and decision-making.
- Lead enterprise application and ERP optimization, integrations, upgrades, lifecycle planning, and adoption.
- Strengthen cybersecurity governance, identity and access management, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, incident response, and employee awareness.
- Manage technology vendors, consultants, contracts, renewals, service levels, and sourcing decisions.
- Own the annual technology operating and capital budgets, balancing cost discipline with business continuity and strategic investment.
- Lead technology due diligence, systems integration, and organizational support associated with growth initiatives and acquisitions.
- Build, coach, and develop a lean, high-performing team focused on accountability, responsiveness, customer service, and continuous improvement.
- Establish meaningful technology metrics, service levels, operating rhythms, policies, and governance without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Evaluate automation, analytics, and practical AI use cases that can create measurable business value.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 12+ years of progressive information technology experience, including leadership of broad enterprise technology functions.
- Experience as a VP of IT, Head of IT, Senior Director of IT, or high-scope Director prepared to step into a broader enterprise mandate.
- Demonstrated ownership across infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, service delivery, cloud, vendors, and technology operations.
- Proven success leading modernization, systems integration, operational improvement, or transformation initiatives.
- Experience supporting a distributed, multi-location, field-based, service-oriented, industrial, manufacturing, logistics, or similarly operational environment is helpful.
- Experience leading a lean internal team and effectively using external partners and managed services.
- Ability to move comfortably between executive-level business discussions and detailed execution work.
- Strong financial management, vendor negotiation, stakeholder leadership, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience supporting organizational growth, acquisitions, or integration activity is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related discipline.
Leadership Style
- Hands-on and practical, with a willingness to roll up sleeves when needed.
- Business-first and service-oriented, with strong judgment around priorities and trade-offs.
- Comfortable operating in an environment that is continuing to mature its systems, processes, and governance.
- Collaborative and credible with executives, operating leaders, employees, vendors, and technical teams.
- Able to create structure and accountability while preserving speed and flexibility.
What This Role Offers
- High visibility and direct partnership with senior leadership.
- Broad ownership across the full technology portfolio.
- The opportunity to shape the operating model, roadmap, team, and vendor ecosystem.
- Meaningful modernization, integration, cybersecurity, and operational-improvement work.
- A role that can expand in scope as the organization continues to grow.
