Job description

The Opportunity

The organization provides management services to a multi-location consumer-facing business. We are looking for a VP of Sales & Marketing who will own both sides of the revenue engine: the brand and marketing that drive demand, and the sales channels and pricing that convert demand into revenue.

This role reports directly to the CEO and works closely with Operations, Finance, Procurement, and other executive leaders. The role partners with Operations on the call center: Operations handles hiring, scheduling, discipline, and customer service and support, while this role owns event-booking scripts, training content, special-event KPIs, and AI-assisted booking-agent productivity for event sales. Outside the call center, there is currently no internal marketing or sales team beneath this role. The VP will do much of the work personally and extend reach by selecting, directing, and holding accountable agencies, freelancers, and vendors. For the right candidate, some services may be brought in-house, such as social content creation, and this role would hire and lead those team members. This is a hands‑on role for someone who pitches the idea, builds the plan, and executes the plan.

What You Will Do
  • Own revenue results for special events and group/party bookings, including booking volume, conversion, average order value, and repeat business.
  • Own the performance of booking channels: the online booking experience and the event-sales side of the call center, including the AI-assisted booking agent.
  • Own event-booking scripts, training content, and special-event KPIs, including AI booking-agent productivity for event sales, and continuously improve how the AI agent and human team work together.
  • Provide sales performance feedback to Operations, which manages the call center team.
  • Build and run sales programs beyond private events: group, school, corporate, fundraiser sales, and partnerships with non-profit organizations.
  • Use funnel and booking data to identify drop-off points, test improvements, and report results to the CEO.
  • Take a proactive role in pricing strategy for daily admission, monthly passes, and annual passes, including promotions, packaging, and location-level or seasonal variation.
  • Analyze visit, conversion, churn, and revenue data along with the competitive landscape to recommend pricing changes, test them, and measure impact on revenue and attendance.
  • Grow membership and pass sales and improve retention, working with Operations on the guest experience that supports renewal.
  • Develop and execute marketing plans for all locations, with the goal of attracting new guests, retaining existing guests, and protecting brand identity.
  • Protect and elevate the brand by setting standards and guidelines and ensuring consistent, high-quality representation on every channel and platform.
  • Lead market research and trend analysis to identify opportunities and challenges and use insights to improve products and services.
  • Plan and run promotional campaigns on a weekly and quarterly cadence across digital and traditional channels.
  • Grow e-commerce performance and manage content creation, social media, customer retention platforms, SEO, and paid advertising.
  • Negotiate media-buy and vendor contracts and manage agency relationships to keep campaigns moving quickly.
  • Plan and deliver special promotions and events, including grand openings, themed events, charity events, and public relations events.
  • Manage third-party partners: advertising and media agencies, SEO and paid-media vendors, freelancers, photographers, designers, and technology vendors behind online booking and the call-center AI agent.
  • Personally create and approve content, copy, campaigns, and promotions where speed or quality requires it, and direct partners on the rest.
  • Own the sales and marketing budget, including all third-party spend, and deliver within it, working with Accounting to keep payables and receivables accurate and timely.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on the effectiveness of every initiative, and keep communication
Experience Essential
  • 8+ years of combined sales and marketing experience
  • Experience hiring and leading marketing or creative staff is a plus.
  • Proven results owning revenue for a consumer, hospitality, entertainment, or multi-location business.
  • Experience with event/group booking, memberships, or subscription-style pricing is a strong plus.
  • Experience training and measuring a call center or inside-sales team on sales conversion, ideally in partnership with an operations or customer-service organization, and with automation or AI tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Analytical skills to read performance data, test pricing, forecast trends, and turn insights into decisions.
  • Deep understanding of digital and traditional marketing channels, including paid social, SEO, content, and e-commerce.
  • Hands‑on ability to execute: write copy, build and schedule campaigns, manage social and SEO, and produce or edit content personally, with the creative judgment to direct outside partners and hold a high standard.
  • Comfort running marketing as a one‑person function at the start while partnering with Operations on the call center: self‑directed, organized, and able to prioritize ruthlessly across sales, pricing, and marketing.
  • Genuine desire to coach and develop people, including call‑center leaders and frontline staff on booking and sales skills, and any marketing or creative team members brought in-house.
