Responsibilities

  • Evaluate growth opportunities, partnerships, investments, and acquisition opportunities.
  • Conduct market, financial, and strategic analyses to support senior decisions.
  • Develop business cases and recommendations for new markets, products, initiatives, and potential transactions.
  • Support and manage components of transaction diligence across finance, commercial, and operations.
  • Partner with internal teams and external advisors to move opportunities from assessment to execution.
  • Perform financial analysis, scenario modeling, valuation, and other quantitative analysis.
  • Monitor industry developments and changes in the financial services landscape.
  • Translate research into clear conclusions and actionable recommendations for leadership.
  • Prepare executive presentations, strategic plans, market assessments, and other materials for senior decision-makers.
  • Drive alignment and execution around high-priority strategic initiatives.

Job description

Our client, a rapidly growing financial services and technology organization, is seeking a VP of Corporate Development & Strategy to help shape and execute the company’s next phase of growth.

This individual will work closely with senior executives on a broad range of strategic initiatives, including evaluating new markets and business opportunities, strategic partnerships, investments, potential acquisitions, and other growth opportunities.

The position is well suited for someone who combines strong strategic thinking with rigorous financial and analytical skills and enjoys taking initiatives from initial concept and evaluation through diligence, decision-making, and execution. This is a highly visible role with exposure to senior leadership and multiple areas of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate potential growth opportunities, new business initiatives, partnerships, investments, and acquisition opportunities.
  • Conduct detailed market, competitive, financial, and strategic analysis to support senior-level decision-making.
  • Develop business cases and recommendations around new markets, products, strategic initiatives, and potential transactions.
  • Support and manage key components of transaction diligence, coordinating financial, commercial, operational, and other workstreams.
  • Partner with internal teams and external advisors to move strategic opportunities from initial assessment through execution.
  • Perform financial analysis, scenario modeling, valuation work, and other quantitative analysis to assess potential opportunities.
  • Monitor industry developments, competitive activity, emerging trends, and changes in the broader financial services landscape.
  • Translate research and analysis into clear conclusions and actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Prepare executive presentations, strategic plans, financial analyses, market assessments, and other materials for senior decision-makers.
  • Work across functions to drive alignment and execution around high-priority strategic initiatives.
  • Help establish appropriate KPIs and measurement frameworks for major strategic programs.
  • Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while maintaining momentum across stakeholders and workstreams.
  • Lead select special projects on behalf of senior leadership.
  • Utilize appropriate technology, AI, and automation tools to improve the efficiency and quality of research, analysis, diligence, and execution.
Ideal candidates will bring:
  • 8+ years of professional experience in corporate development, corporate strategy, private equity, venture capital, investment banking, or a closely related strategic role.
  • Experience evaluating M&A transactions, strategic investments, partnerships, joint ventures, or other growth initiatives.
  • Strong financial analysis and modeling capabilities, including the ability to evaluate business models, investment opportunities, and strategic alternatives.
  • Experience conducting commercial and/or transaction diligence.
  • The ability to independently structure ambiguous problems, analyze large amounts of information, and develop clear recommendations.
  • Experience working with senior executives and creating concise, executive-level presentations and decision materials.
  • Strong project-management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and workstreams.
  • Experience working with external parties such as investment banks, legal advisors, consultants, investors, or strategic partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A highly collaborative approach and the ability to influence stakeholders across different functions and levels of seniority.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where priorities may evolve quickly.
Preferred Background

Experience within financial services, fintech, asset management, investment management, wealth management, or related financial markets businesses is strongly preferred.

Exposure to private-market or alternative investment products, including familiarity with fund structures, operations, or valuation methodologies, would be an advantage but is not required.
