Jobbeschreibung

Our client, a leading 4PL is hiring a Vice President of Strategy & Corporate Development to serve as a key strategic partner to the CEO and CFO. This high-visibility, hands-on individual contributor role is ideal for a sharp, self-directed professional who excels at solving complex problems across deal execution, financial planning, and strategic projects.

The VP will own the company's M&A function end-to-end - from sourcing and screening acquisition candidates to leading diligence and supporting post-close integration - while simultaneously supporting the CFO's FP&A agenda and driving execution of key operational and business development initiatives across the company. Because this is an individual contributor role at hire, the ideal candidate must be a strong practitioner: capable of building models, writing memos, running processes, and delivering polished materials independently.

Key responsibilities
Acquisitions - Sourcing, Execution & Integration

Build and maintain a proprietary M&A pipeline

Proactively identify, research, and cultivate acquisition targets aligned with strategic growth priorities

Manage banker and intermediary relationships

Serve as the primary internal contact for M&A advisors, business brokers, and sell-side intermediaries

Lead financial analysis and valuation work

Build LBO, DCF, and accretion/dilution models from scratch; develop transaction-level business cases for CEO and CFO review

Manage cross-functional diligence across finance, operations, legal, HR, and technology; synthesize findings into investment committee materials

Support deal structuring and negotiation

Work alongside legal counsel and the CFO on LOI terms, purchase agreement negotiations, and closing mechanics

Develop integration playbooks and track key milestones in partnership with operational leadership

Support development and maintenance of the long-range financial plan

Partner with the CFO to build and update a rolling 3-5 year integrated financial model

Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses

Model the financial impact of strategic decisions including M&A, capital investment, pricing changes, and market scenarios

Produce executive and board-level financial presentations

Build clear, polished materials in PowerPoint and Excel for CEO, CFO, and board reporting

Track and analyze KPIs

Monitor financial and operational performance metrics; surface trends, variances, and actionable insights

Benchmark competitive and market performance

Research public company comps, transaction multiples, and market dynamics to inform internal planning assumptions

Strategic Initiatives

Project-manage priority business development and operational initiatives

Drive execution of cross-functional projects on behalf of the CEO and CFO, from scoping through delivery

Support the annual strategic planning process

Coordinate planning activities, synthesize inputs from functional leaders, and produce the strategic plan narrative

Conduct market and competitive research

Develop well-reasoned points of view on end-market trends, customer dynamics, and competitive positioning

Prepare CEO and CFO for key external meetings

Build pre-meeting briefings, one-pagers, and presentation materials for customer, partner, and investor interactions

Evaluate and advance new business development opportunities

Analyze new service lines, customer segments, or geographic expansion concepts and develop actionable recommendations

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • 4-8 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, management consulting, corporate strategy, or FP&A at a high-growth company
  • Demonstrated M&A experience — including financial modeling, due diligence coordination, and deal execution
  • Prior exposure to transportation and logistics
  • Experience supporting or working alongside C-suite executives in a fast-paced operating environment
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects independently from initiation through completion
TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • Advanced Excel (LBO, DCF, 3-statement models)
  • AI productivity tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot)
  • PowerPoint (board- and executive-ready decks)
  • Outlook, Teams, and Microsoft 365 collaboration suite
  • M&A process management & data room coordination
  • KPI tracking and variance analysis
  • SharePoint or comparable document management
COMPETENCIES & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
  • Self-directed and highly organized — comfortable managing multiple workstreams with minimal oversight
  • Exceptional analytical rigor with strong financial modeling instincts
  • Clear, concise communicator — able to translate complex analysis into crisp executive-level narratives
  • Intellectually curious; quickly synthesizes new industries, business models, and markets
  • Low ego, high output — a collaborative team player who rolls up their sleeves and gets things done
  • Discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential deal and financial information
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field required
  • MBA from a top-tier program preferred but not required for exceptional candidates with the right experience
