Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with an entrepreneurial, high-growth organization to identify a Vice President of Accounting. This is a hands-on leadership role built for someone who can scale the function, improve controls, and partner with the executive team.

Based in Austin, TX, the VP will oversee all accounting operations, ensure GAAP compliance, and drive process automation. CPA is required; 12+ years of progressive accounting experience with public accounting and industry

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA is required.
• Combination of Big 4/public accounting and industry accounting experience.
• 12+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership of accounting teams.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience operating within a high-growth, entrepreneurial, or rapidly changing environment.
• Proven ability to build processes and infrastructure from the ground up.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
• Advanced ERP and financial systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, consolidations, and technical accounting.
• Establish scalable processes, controls, and reporting infrastructure to support rapid growth.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Partner closely with executive leadership on strategic initiatives, business planning, and operational improvements.
• Oversee external audits, tax compliance, and relationships with outside advisors.
• Drive process automation and system optimization initiatives to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting organization.
• Support M&A activity, integrations, due diligence, and special projects as needed.
• Provide hands-on leadership and willingness to dive into day-to-day accounting activities when required.
• Create and maintain a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of Big 4/public accounting and progressive industry experience, along with a hands‑on leadership style and a start‑up mentality. This individual will serve as a key member of the finance leadership team and play a critical role in scaling the accounting function as the business continues to grow.

Compensation: $225,000 - $250,000 base salary plus bonus and equity potential
