About The Role

The defense and national security market is not won on technology alone. It is won by people who understand how government buys, what it prioritizes, and how to position a company to win. Beacon Global Strategies is seeking a Vice President to do exactly that — helping the most consequential technology companies build and grow their public sector businesses with Defense and National Security customers.

The Vice President champions client engagements within our National Security Technology Practice, with a specific focus on helping companies build Public Sector businesses. The VP will be responsible for building and executing business development strategies for a portfolio of clients and managing client relations. Client support within the National Security Technology Practice focuses on growing public sector businesses, particularly with Defense and National Security customers. This entails strategy development, execution, and branding and positioning support. The VP will be responsible for maintaining expertise and relationships within the defense and national security acquisition ecosystem to advise clients on U.S. Government (USG) priorities and processes.

Focus Area:

Growth Strategy

Washington, DC (4 out of 5 days onsite)

Core Responsibilities
  • Manage relationships and a portfolio of clients across a variety of technologies, products and services, with the support of Associates, other VPs, and Managing Directors.

  • Provide thought leadership through publications and at events related to National Security, Technology and Acquisition.
  • Provide strategic guidance to clients on developments in USG national security technology priorities, policy and regulatory landscape, and acquisition processes to inform sales solutions.
  • Help clients understand how the U.S. government, private industry, think tanks, and the media interact and inform policy decisions.
  • Tie acquisition and policy expertise to clients’ business needs to shape their government affairs and go-to-market strategies.
  • Maintain a network of key relationships with the ability to make connections and create optimal partnerships; conduct outreach to relevant USG entities and stakeholders.
  • Proactively propose and generate new products/ideas in anticipation of client needs.
  • Continuously develop subject matter expertise in national security and technology advancements.
  • Promote mastery of administrative functions and project management as key to client team success.

Ideal Background

Candidates who will thrive in this role may come from backgrounds such as:

  • Track record of getting technology across the finish line with defense and national security customers — and the hunger to do it again at scale across a large portfolio of clients.
  • Senior roles within DoW or national security agencies, with direct exposure to defense acquisition programs and USG procurement processes
  • Senior business development or strategic advisory roles supporting technology companies entering or scaling in the defense and national security markets.
  • Senior congressional staff or executive branch policy roles with a defense technology or acquisition focus.
