Job description

CAZ was founded in 2001 with the backing of some of the most respected and successful families in the state of Texas. Since our inception, we have focused our efforts on finding excellent opportunities to invest our personal money and then providing the ability for our global network of investors to co-invest with us. We exist to provide Exclusive Access to Unique Alternatives.

We recently grew our ownership consortium to include several veterans in financial services as well as the world’s leading life and business strategist, Tony Robbins. Robbins was thrice named to the WORTH 100 most influential people in the world of global finance. His two financial books, Money: Master the Game and Unshakeable, were both #1 New York Times Bestsellers. Robbins’ latest book, The Holy Grail of Investing, co-authored with our Chairman and CIO, Christopher Zook, recently became a #1 New York Times Bestseller as well. Robbins’ private financial events often feature speakers like Paul Tudor Jones, Ray Dalio, Jeff Gundlach, Hank Paulson, Alan Greenspan, and others.

We are quite different than the vast majority of other investment management companies in multiple ways. First, we always invest our personal capital alongside our Investors. We have more than $650mm of our personal capital committed to our investment vehicles. We provide access to our Investors to co-invest with us in these vehicles, which we believe provide the best opportunities for our families’ and our Shareholders’ money. Second, because of the scale of our investments, we have access to opportunities that would otherwise not be available to investors with less than $250mm - $500mm of investable assets. Quite simply, there are many investments we can provide for our Investors they could never access on their own. Third, and what we believe is the most unique feature of our Firm, almost all of our compensation is earned only if an investor makes money. In many cases, if our Investors do not make money, we don’t get paid. This ultimate alignment of interests is why we focus on finding the absolute best risk/reward opportunities available.

As Vice President, Investment Diligence, you will lead the Investment Management Team in evaluating and monitoring investment opportunities. In this role, you will collaborate across Teams to help inform leadership in investment due diligence, decisions, and monitoring, contributing to the Firm's overall success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate new investment opportunities and support the monitoring of existing investments, primarily across the full range of private markets
  • Collaborate on initial due diligence and prepare Investment Memos to be presented to the Investment Committee
  • Assist the Portfolio Management Team in monitoring and tracking existing investments and portfolios, including gathering and analyzing data on existing investments
Success as a Vice President, Investment Diligence will be measured by your:
  • High-quality investment diligence and analysis, culminating in the creation of Investment Committee memos
  • Ability to deliver quality work, on time, with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency to work within and across Teams to bring success to all members of the Firm
  • Ability to demonstrate and communicate an understanding of the financial markets and economics
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field. CAIA, CFA or MBA is preferred
  • 6+ years of investment industry experience is preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under strict deadlines
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Demonstrates an entrepreneurial mindset and capacity to think outside the box
  • Expertise in alternative investments, including private equity, private credit, venture capital, and hedge funds
  • Exceptional organizational and written communication skills with exacting attention to detail
  • Strong research experience and financial knowledge, with understanding of accounting and financial valuation
  • Experience in DealCloud and/or Caissa is a strong plus, as well as other data analytics software platforms
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, and specifically Microsoft Excel
  • A solid understanding of underlying macro- and micro-economic forces and trends
  • Ability to quickly learn and utilize quantitative modeling techniques
  • Selfless team player with a strong work ethic
  • Financial Instrument Knowledge: Deep knowledge of diversified alternatives platform structures, GP-led secondaries, preferred equity, convertible notes, and NAV-based credit; can structure or critique a term sheet independently.
  • Process Orientation: Identifies process gaps and proposes specific improvements; owns recurring processes end-to-end; reduces cycle time or error rate measurably; documents process for the people who will inherit it
  • Relationship Building: Builds influence with senior Partners across Capital Formation, Operations, Technology, and Legal; cultivates external relationships that yield actionable intelligence.
  • Investment Acumen: Forms defensible, independent views; debates senior Team members from evidence rather than position; delivers calibrated, decision-ready recommendations.
  • Team Communication: Runs effective meetings; documents decisions clearly; closes communication loops across stakeholders; can communicate bad news cleanly and without drama.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Base salary will be commensurate with experience
  • Bonus opportunities will be tied to effectiveness, measured by a periodic goal-setting process, with the amount of opportunity depending on value-added to the organization and firm profitability
  • Participation in our matching 401k plan
